The Indian lower order of batting, in the ongoing Test at the Gabba, is fighting back after India lost their first 6 wickets for 186 with Rishabh Pant’s dismissal. Debutant Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur, playing his 2nd Test match, are toiling hard to get India to a decent total.
In the process, the Sundar-Thakur duo has already put up a partnership of 67 runs, as of Tea on Day 3 of the Brisbane Test, and have set a new record. When the stand touched 59 runs, it was already the highest 7th wicket partnership for an Indian pair at the Gabba. By doing so, they have broken the 30-year-old record that was held by Kapil Dev and Manoj Prabhakar.
This ongoing Brisbane Test is India’s 7th Test match at the Gabba and while India have drawn one game at this venue, they have lost 5. The last time that India played at this venue, was during India’s 2014-15 tour of Australia and the MS Dhoni – Ravichandran Ashwin pair had put up a partnership of 57 runs in the 1st innings.
