On Day 1 of the Chennai Test, fans were enthralled after watching two of the greatest cricketers of the era find time to chat with each other during an intense battle at the Chepauk.
India captain Virat Kohli and his England counterpart Joe Root talked for around 40 seconds after the completion of an Ishant Sharma delivery in the 34th over. Joe Root had smile on his face all the while as Virat Kohli talked about something which made the on-air commentators curious.
“I think it’s great to see two great players who have done so much for the game. Love to know what they are talking about,” Nick Knight said.
“You could see the comfort factor at the toss, just before the toss, the way they were conversing and they were just comfortable around each other. Yes, you are competitors, you are actually vying for the same spot as because you are gun batsmen, just that friendship and that easiness about everything. That’s what stands out in international cricket,” Murali Karthik added.

Joe Root, who made his Test debut against India in 2012, is playing in his 100th Test. The England captain has continued his good form from the Sri Lanka tour and was just 7 runs away from his 20th Test hundred when this story was published.
Along with opener Dom Sibley, Root has taken England’s score past 200 for the loss of just 2 wickets.
